Martie Herman MARTENS

     Martie Herman MARTENS, 52, was found dead at his home on Salem highway near Dallas Friday afternoon. Mrs. Martens was away and he had last been seen Wednesday noon by neighbors. Coronor J. Ballman stated death was due to a heart attack, and he placed the time of death as October 29.

     Mr. Martens was born December 15, 1900 at Avoca, Nebraska. He was married March 7, 1923 to Susie G. Sisco at Burchard, Neb. Mrs. Martens is now totally blind.

     The couple resided in Pawnee county, Nebraska until 1938 when they came to Oregon and settled in Yamhill county, moving to their present home on Route 1, Dallas in 1946. Mr. Martens had followed farming all his life.

     Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Bollman Funeral Home with Rev. G. E. McGarvey, pastor of the Alliance church, officiating.

     He is survived by his wife and three sister, Mrs. Ella Ryan, Maulind Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Ida Schumacker, Pawnee City, Neb., and Mrs. Louise Wadley, Tecumseh, Neb. and several nephew and nieces. His father and mother, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
