John Andrew Brown

John, son of David and Letitia Brown, was born near Argyle, Wisc., March 28, 1850, and passed away at his home seven miles west of Pawnee City, NE, March 26, 1929, after a brief illness.  His age was 78 years, 11 months and 28 days.

In 1868 John A. Brown emigrated from Argyle, Wisc. (his birth place) with his parents to Blackhawk County, Iowa., where he resided until 1872, when he was united in marriage to Miss Maria A. Clark.   Five children were born to this union. James A., of Palisade, NE, Frank E. of Denver, CO, Edna of Lincoln, NE, Hallie of Sand Point, Idaho, and Raymond, who died in infancy.

In 1877 he moved to Rock County, Minn, where he resided one year, then migrated to Nodaway Co., Mo. Six years later he was united in marriage to Mrs. Anna Brewer. Three children were born to them. Hugh of Palisade, NE, Charles of Pawnee city, and Belle, who passed away on New Year's Day, 1911.

In 1915 this wife passed away after a brief illness and in 1916 he was married to Mrs. Mary Brummett, who survives him.

Mr. Brown was a kind and considerable husband, a loving and generous father, and a thoughtful neighbor, ever ready to heed the call of help.  Of a joyous and happy disposition, his friends were numbered only by his acquaintances. Many will feel a personal loss in his passing and extend to the sorrowing family the most sincere sympathy in their hour of sorrow.

Funeral services were conducted at the home last Thursday afternoon, in charge of Rev. C. B. Persol, Pastor of the Burchard and Violet Methodist Churches, and interment was made in the Burchard Cemetery.
